Seattle, WA – A Flood Watch remains in effect for portions of western Washington, including Grays Harbor, Lewis, and Thurston counties, through Tuesday afternoon as heavy rainfall continues to impact the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, another round of precipitation is expected from Monday morning through Tuesday morning, bringing an additional 1 to 3 inches of rain. The ongoing rainfall is increasing water levels on the Chehalis River, which is already rising. While current river forecasts indicate that crest levels may remain just below flood stage, there is still a possibility that levels could exceed predictions.

The excessive runoff could lead to flooding in rivers, creeks, streams, and low-lying flood-prone areas, with urban and poor drainage areas particularly at risk. Residents in these regions should monitor updates and be prepared to take action if conditions worsen.

The National Weather Service advises residents to stay informed and heed potential Flood Warnings. Those in flood-prone areas should have an emergency plan in place and be ready to move to higher ground if necessary.
