Monrovia, CA — Trader Joe’s has issued a nationwide recall of approximately 653,000 Mango Tangerine Scented Candles due to a significant fire hazard. The candles, which were sold in June 2024, have been reported to produce flames that spread from the wick to the wax, causing larger than expected flames that can pose a serious fire risk.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Trader Joe’s has received 14 reports of incidents involving these candles. These reports include three cases of minor property damage and two cases of minor burns. The candles, identifiable by SKU number 56879, were sold in 5.7-ounce tins for about $4 each.
Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the recalled candles. They can return them to any Trader Joe’s store for a full cash refund or receive a $4 gift card by completing an online product feedback form. Trader Joe’s will also require a receipt or photo of the candle to process the refund.
