Barton, VT – A 29-year-old Glover man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop in Barton Saturday morning, following reports of excessive speed and reckless driving along Main Street.

According to the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred around 10:08 a.m. on May 2, 2026, when Deputy Battista allegedly observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed while passing other vehicles in a dangerous manner. Authorities say the deputy initiated emergency lights and sirens before conducting a traffic stop on Main Street.

Police identified the driver as Tyler N. Brooks, 29, of Glover, Vermont. According to authorities, Brooks was taken into custody at the scene without further incident. He was transported to the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office for processing.

According to police, Brooks allegedly refused to comply with DUI testing procedures, leading to a charge of DUI #2 refusal. He was also cited for grossly negligent operation and excessive speed. Officials classify the charges as both felony and misdemeanor offenses.

After processing, Brooks was issued a criminal citation and transported to the Northern State Correctional Facility. His vehicle was towed from the scene.

Court records show Brooks is scheduled to appear in Vermont Criminal Court, Orleans Criminal Division, on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. Bail was set at $100, according to officials.
