Orlando, FL – Central Florida is facing a high risk of wildfire this afternoon as the National Weather Service issues a Red Flag Warning for Greater Orlando, Daytona Beach, and surrounding communities. The warning will be in effect from 1 PM to 7 PM EDT Friday, April 11, 2025.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, the alert impacts several counties, including Inland Volusia, Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Coastal Volusia, Southern Lake, and Northern Brevard. The combination of strong west-southwest winds, gusting up to 25 mph, and very low humidity levels—ranging from 30 to 35 percent—creates critical fire conditions.

The heightened fire danger means that any fires that develop could spread rapidly. As a result, outdoor burning is strongly discouraged, and residents should remain cautious. The Red Flag Warning indicates that extreme fire behavior is possible due to the dry conditions and strong winds.

Officials urge residents to avoid activities that could ignite fires, such as burning debris, grilling, or using equipment that could spark.
