Orland Park, Illinois – A 46-year-old man faces a murder charge after his father was found dead inside a home, prompting a multi-agency investigation.

According to the Orland Park Police Department, officers responded around 6:31 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, to a residence in the 14100 block of Concord Drive for an assist-ambulance call. A 911 caller reported that a man was deceased inside the home.

Upon arrival, officers located Samir Kassem, 77, who was pronounced dead at the scene. During the initial investigation, police identified his son, Ibrahim Kassem, 46, as a person of interest. Authorities said he was located shortly afterward and taken into custody without incident.

Investigators, working with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force and the Cook County Sheriff’s Department, gathered evidence allegedly linking Ibrahim Kassem to the homicide. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office subsequently approved a charge of first-degree murder.

Police said Ibrahim Kassem was scheduled for a first court appearance at Leighton Criminal Courthouse on April 30.

Officials have not released additional details about the circumstances leading to the death. The investigation remains ongoing.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The case may draw attention among local residents and commuters in the Concord Drive area due to increased police presence during the investigation.
