Eugene, Ore. – Oregonians in the southern Willamette Valley can expect a sharp change in weather later this week as steady rain returns by Friday and lingers into Sunday. After a mild, mostly clear Wednesday, skies will cloud over Thursday before showers sweep into Eugene Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, a 40% chance of rain begins late Thursday, increasing to 80% by Friday night. Saturday brings the heaviest rainfall with a near-100% chance of showers and possible thunderstorms. Highs will reach the upper 50s to mid-60s through the weekend, with lows in the mid-40s.

The NWS advises residents to prepare for slick roads and limited visibility, especially on Interstate 5 and Highway 126. Homeowners should check gutters and drains as several days of rain could cause minor flooding in low-lying areas.

Rain is expected to taper off by early Monday, but forecasters warn that another round of moisture could follow midweek.
