Portland, Oregon – Dry skies and steadily warming temperatures will keep much of northwest Oregon and southwest Washington in a classic midsummer pattern to start the week, with inland communities approaching 90 degrees while the coast remains significantly cooler.
According to the National Weather Service in Portland, Monday will feature mostly sunny skies and dry conditions across the region. Temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 80s across the Willamette Valley, with Portland reaching around 88 degrees, Salem 88 degrees, Hillsboro 88 degrees, McMinnville 88 degrees, and Eugene around 88 degrees. Areas east of the Cascades, including The Dalles, could reach the mid-90s.
Along the Oregon Coast, a much cooler marine influence will keep highs generally in the lower to upper 60s, including Astoria, Newport and Tillamook. Morning clouds may develop along the coastline Tuesday before giving way to partial sunshine.
Tuesday is expected to be one to two degrees warmer than Monday across much of northwest Oregon and southwest Washington, extending the warm and dry stretch. No significant rainfall is expected, and light winds should limit travel impacts.
The pleasant weather will be favorable for outdoor activities, but residents should still stay hydrated during the afternoon, particularly in inland valleys where temperatures will approach 90 degrees. Fire danger may gradually increase as dry conditions continue.
Warnings are not currently in effect, but forecasters will continue monitoring temperatures as the warm pattern persists through the first half of the week.
