Oregon – Light rain is tapping against windows across the metro this morning, and colder air is sliding south behind it. Wet pavement on I-5 and I-84 could turn slick by late Monday night as temperatures fall into the 30s.
According to the National Weather Service in Portland, skies partially clear later today with a high near 52 degrees. Rain redevelops after 4 a.m. Monday, with precipitation chances near 80 percent. Highs Monday reach only 46 degrees, and snow levels hover near 1,500 feet before lowering to around 900 feet Monday night.
By Tuesday, rain may mix with snow before 10 a.m. as snow levels dip near 1,000 feet. Highs hold near 46 degrees. Little to no accumulation is expected in the city, but heavier showers could briefly mix in wet flakes, especially in the West Hills and east metro.
Tuesday night turns colder with lows near 31 degrees and snow levels near 800 feet. That raises a flash-freeze concern if roads remain wet. Even without measurable snow, bridges and overpasses can ice quickly once temperatures dip below freezing.
Showers linger into Wednesday with highs near 45 and continued rain–snow mixing at times. Wednesday night stays damp with lows in the lower 30s. By Thursday, scattered rain and snow showers continue with highs in the mid-40s.
Looking ahead to President’s Day week, temperatures gradually moderate. Long-range trends suggest milder air building late next week, offering early spring vibes after this February chill.
