Medford, OR – The National Weather Service in Medford has issued multiple wind alerts across southern Oregon and far northern California, warning of gusts up to 60 mph through Saturday evening that could bring tree damage, power outages, and dangerous travel conditions.
A High Wind Warning is in effect for the South Central Oregon Coast, including Bandon, Coos Bay, North Bend, Port Orford, and Reedsport, from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Forecasters expect sustained southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts near 60 mph along capes and coastal headlands.
A Wind Advisory also remains in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday for a large area spanning Central Siskiyou County, Modoc County, and portions of Douglas, Curry, Josephine, Klamath, and Lake counties. Winds in these regions will range from 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph, particularly across mountain passes and exposed ridges.
The NWS warns that travel on routes including Highway 101 near Cape Blanco, Interstate 5 near Weed, and Highways 31, 395, and 140 may be hazardous due to crosswinds and blowing debris.
Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, avoid unnecessary travel during peak gusts, and prepare for possible power disruptions through Saturday evening.
