Eugene, OR – The National Weather Service (NWS) Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK, has issued a fire weather outlook for July 1-7, 2024, predicting increased fire danger in Oregon, Nevada, Utah, and Idaho due to a strong ridge of high pressure.

According to the NWS, very hot temperatures and dry surface conditions will heighten fire risk, particularly in parts of these states. A weak cold front moving south will enhance surface winds and the potential for isolated thunderstorms, creating critical fire-weather conditions starting Monday.

Uncertainty remains about the weather pattern later in the week, but dry and breezy conditions are likely, potentially maintaining elevated fire risk across the affected areas.
