Lane County, OR – Deputies from the Lane County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man wanted in connection with a significant telecommunication wire theft on September 7th. The arrest followed an investigation that began in late August after a Forest Patrol deputy discovered that the lock on a private timber gate along Highway 126 West and Austa Road had been cut open.

According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect, identified as 60-year-old Marshall Allen Stucky from Veneta, allegedly stole several thousand feet of telecommunication cables. The cables, along with other hardware, belonged to telecommunication and power companies. Authorities estimate that the theft caused around $65,000 in damages.

On September 7th, deputies located Stucky during a traffic stop, leading to his arrest. He was charged with aggravated theft, theft in the second degree, criminal mischief in the first and second degrees, trespass in the second degree, and was also found to have a U.S. Marshal’s warrant.

Stucky is currently being held at the Lane County Jail, awaiting further legal proceedings.
