North Central Oregon – Drivers and residents in North Central Oregon are urged to prepare for hazardous conditions as a freezing fog advisory remains in effect through 11 a.m. Saturday. Visibility is expected to drop below a quarter mile, creating dangerous travel conditions, particularly along routes like OR-197 near Dufur, Maupin, and Moro.

According to the National Weather Service, the freezing fog will persist overnight, with icy patches forming on roadways, bridges, and overpasses. Drivers are advised to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain safe following distances. Pedestrians should also exercise caution on icy sidewalks and paths.

Saturday brings a shift in conditions, with breezy weather and rain chances of 70-80% across the Columbia Basin. Light ice accumulation remains possible in foothill areas, while snow may fall at higher elevations in the Blue Mountains.

Sunday will see lingering light rain (30-50% chances) in lower elevations, with mountain snow tapering off by evening. Temperatures are expected to rise slightly, reducing the risk of ice by late Sunday night.

Looking ahead, Monday and Tuesday are forecast to be dry and mild, offering a reprieve for travelers. However, cooler temperatures may bring patchy morning fog early in the week.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updates from the National Weather Service and prepare for potentially dangerous travel conditions through Saturday morning.
