Medford, OR – A cold snap expected this weekend could bring freezing temperatures to parts of southern Oregon, including Klamath Falls and Lakeview. The National Weather Service is warning gardeners and those with agricultural interests to be aware of the potential frost and freeze conditions.
According to the NWS, temperatures could drop below freezing by Sunday morning, April 13, with a 70% chance of sub-32°F readings in Klamath Falls and 75% in Lakeview. Other nearby cities, including Alturas and Cave Junction, are also at risk, though the freeze chances are lower in those areas.
The weather service advises gardeners to take protective measures for sensitive vegetation, which could be damaged by these frosty conditions. For those in areas with a higher risk, it’s suggested that plants be covered or moved indoors, and irrigation systems may need to be adjusted to prevent damage.
With conditions expected to stabilize by Monday, those in affected areas should monitor the forecast closely for any changes or additional warnings.
