Austin, TX – Texas residents are being warned about elevated ozone pollution levels in the San Antonio and Austin areas, with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) issuing an Ozone Action Day for Thursday, April 10, 2025.
Atmospheric conditions are expected to cause high levels of ozone air pollution in both cities on Thursday, which could affect outdoor air quality. The TCEQ recommends several actions to help reduce ozone pollution, including carpooling, walking, or biking, as well as avoiding drive-through lanes. Additionally, residents are encouraged to conserve energy and ensure their vehicles are properly maintained to limit emissions.
In response to this warning, the Central Texas Clean Air Force and the Alamo Area Council of Governments urge residents to take precautions. This includes limiting strenuous outdoor activities, especially for children, the elderly, and people with respiratory conditions.
If conditions warrant, another Ozone Action Day will be issued by 3 PM on Thursday, April 10. For further information about ozone pollution and tips for reducing exposure, visit the TCEQ website and local air quality resources.
