Eugene, OR – A powerful storm system is set to bring heavy rainfall, strong winds, and possible flooding to western Oregon starting Monday. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch through late Tuesday night, warning residents to prepare for rising water levels and hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Portland, an atmospheric river will push heavy rain into the region Sunday night through Tuesday, with 3 to 6 inches of rainfall expected. Wind gusts up to 37 mph could also create power outages and fallen tree hazards. Low-lying areas and rivers, particularly in the Willamette Valley and Oregon Coast Range, are at the highest risk for flooding and landslides.
