Omaha, Nebraska – Patchy fog cleared quickly across eastern Nebraska Thursday morning, making way for drier skies and milder temperatures ahead of what’s shaping up to be a picture-perfect weekend.
According to the National Weather Service Omaha/Valley office, skies will remain mostly cloudy through early afternoon before breaking up later in the day. A brief setback is expected Friday as scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms roll across the region, keeping daytime highs in the 60s.
Lincoln, Fremont, and Norfolk could see brief downpours during the Friday commute, but severe weather is not anticipated. The cloud cover and cooler temperatures may slow weekend travel preparations or outdoor plans.
By Saturday, sunny skies and calmer winds will return statewide, with highs rebounding into the 70s. From Grand Island to Bellevue, residents can expect ideal conditions for outdoor events, yard work, or a quick getaway. The NWS calls it a “top notch couple of days off” as Nebraska enjoys a break from recent soggy spells.
The next chance of rain isn’t expected until early next week. No weather alerts are in effect, but officials advise staying updated through Friday as conditions briefly turn unsettled.
