Norman, OK – Oklahoma residents should prepare for an extended period of extreme heat as temperatures are forecast to soar into the triple digits through the weekend. The National Weather Service in Norman has issued heat advisories and excessive heat warnings for much of the state, with the most intense conditions expected in central and northeastern Oklahoma, including Norman and Tulsa.

According to the National Weather Service, today’s high is expected to reach 100°F, with temperatures rising to 101°F on Friday. The heat will intensify further over the weekend, with Saturday and Sunday both forecasted to hit a scorching 103°F. Nighttime lows will provide little relief, remaining in the upper 70s.

Oklahomans are urged to take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses, such as staying hydrated, limiting outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and checking on vulnerable individuals. Heat-related deaths are preventable with proper precautions, especially when it comes to children and pets in vehicles.

The heat wave is expected to break slightly by Monday, with temperatures dropping to 94°F, but conditions will remain hot through early next week. By Tuesday, temperatures are expected to fall further, with a high of 92°F.
