Oklahoma City, OK – A tornado watch is in effect across much of Oklahoma, including the Oklahoma City and Tulsa metro areas, and will remain in place until 10 a.m. CDT Wednesday. Residents across 43 counties are being urged to stay weather-aware as conditions support the potential for tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail.

According to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center, Tornado Watch 95 was issued early Wednesday morning and spans central, eastern, and southern Oklahoma. Counties under the alert include Oklahoma, Tulsa, Cleveland, Canadian, Payne, and Muskogee among others. The watch area covers both densely populated urban centers and vulnerable rural communities.

Emergency management officials are advising residents to have multiple ways to receive warnings and to review severe weather safety plans now. Those living in mobile homes or poorly constructed structures are especially encouraged to identify nearby storm shelters.

Meteorologists say unstable atmospheric conditions could lead to rapid storm development throughout the morning. Historically, April is a peak month for tornado activity in Oklahoma, increasing the urgency of current precautions.

Schools and businesses may face disruptions, particularly in areas where storms develop rapidly. Travelers should check for flight delays or cancellations and monitor road conditions due to severe weather risk.
