Tulsa, Okla. – A line of strong thunderstorms could sweep across eastern Oklahoma this afternoon, bringing quarter- to half-dollar-size hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph from Tulsa to Fort Smith through 10 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, a marginal risk of severe weather begins around noon Wednesday, with storms most likely between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Rain chances are highest north of I-40, with Bartlesville and Miami seeing probabilities climb above 75% during peak hours.

Communities including Muskogee, Fayetteville, and Tahlequah should prepare for fast-moving storms that may cause localized wind damage and brief periods of heavy rainfall. Rainfall amounts are generally expected between 0.1 and 0.5 inches, with isolated totals near 1 inch possible along and north of U.S. Highway 412.

While tornadoes are not expected, residents are urged to monitor alerts and have shelter plans ready. Outdoor activities should be rescheduled, and drivers are advised to watch for slick roads during the evening commute.

Storms are forecast to exit the region by late evening. Additional watches or warnings could still be issued throughout the day as conditions evolve.
