Tulsa, OK – A significant heat wave is set to impact Oklahoma, with temperatures expected to climb sharply over the weekend. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions as the heat risk increases.

According to the US National Weather Service in Tulsa, heat risk levels will be on the rise starting Saturday. The forecast predicts temperatures reaching 97 degrees today, 99 degrees on Sunday, and a scorching 101 degrees on Monday. The heat wave will peak on Tuesday with an expected high of 103 degrees. These extreme temperatures pose a significant risk, particularly for those engaging in outdoor activities.

The Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) chart indicates that much of the region will experience high to extreme heat risk. Safety guidelines recommend taking at least 15-minute breaks per hour when working or exercising in direct sun at low risk levels, increasing to 45-minute breaks per hour at extreme risk levels.

Residents should stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing, and avoid strenuous activities during peak heat hours. Partly cloudy conditions are expected to offer some respite around 11 AM today, but the overall trend remains dangerously hot.

Looking ahead, the forecast for Tulsa shows a slight dip in temperatures to 92 degrees on Wednesday and 87 degrees on Thursday with a 40% chance of rain, providing some relief. However, the weekend will see temperatures climbing back to near 90 degrees.
