Miami, OK – A semi-truck driver was cited for inattentive driving Tuesday after crashing into a toll gantry at the eastbound I-44/Will Rogers Turnpike off and on ramps in Miami, Oklahoma, causing significant traffic disruptions.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the driver struck the plate pay gantry while exiting the turnpike, severely damaging both the truck and the toll structure. The UPS-branded semi sustained heavy front-end damage and came to a stop entangled with the metal framework of the gantry.

The crash forced authorities to close the affected exit and entrance ramps for several hours as crews worked to remove the vehicle and begin repairs on the damaged infrastructure. Photos released by OHP show the extent of the impact, with the gantry bent and the truck lodged at the base of the structure.

No injuries were reported in the incident, but the collision caused extensive delays for drivers navigating the area Tuesday. Repairs and cleanup efforts extended into the afternoon before lanes were eventually reopened.

Officials said the driver was cited at the scene for inattentive driving. The investigation remains ongoing, and it’s unclear whether additional citations or charges may follow.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is reminding motorists to stay alert and reduce speed near toll facilities and ramps where traffic conditions can change quickly.
