Tulsa, OK – Severe weather is expected to persist in Tulsa and surrounding areas through Monday evening, with thunderstorms, heavy rain, and a flood watch in effect. Residents should be prepared for localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas and along roads such as Interstate 44. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns of potential downpours that could create hazardous conditions, particularly during mid-afternoon and evening hours.
According to the NWS, heavy thunderstorms will continue across eastern Oklahoma, with the strongest storms likely bringing one to two inches of rainfall. Gusts up to 30 mph and scattered lightning strikes also pose a danger, as intense rainfall could reduce visibility for drivers. A Flood Watch is active until 6 p.m. on Monday, encompassing Tulsa and nearby counties, where some creeks and drainage systems may overflow.
Tonight, showers and thunderstorms will persist into the late evening, with a 90% chance of precipitation. Overnight temperatures are expected to drop to around 66°F, while wind speeds could reach up to 25 mph. The NWS advises motorists to avoid flooded roadways and to be cautious of slick conditions during nighttime travel.
Looking ahead, Monday will bring continued rain and thunderstorms, with daytime highs near 73°F. Residents should remain vigilant, as flooding risks are expected to linger, especially in areas prone to water accumulation. By Tuesday, skies should clear slightly, bringing partly sunny conditions with a high of 64°F, though temperatures will cool down by mid-week, reaching a low of 46°F Tuesday night.
Wednesday promises clear skies, with sunshine and a high near 69°F, offering some relief from the stormy weather. However, the NWS advises that residents monitor local forecasts and be prepared for rapid weather changes, particularly through Monday evening.
Stay tuned to local channels and social media for updates. Ensure to have an emergency kit ready, avoid low-lying areas, and seek higher ground if flash flooding occurs.
