Tulsa, OK – A potent storm system is set to impact northeast Oklahoma this weekend, bringing widespread rain and potential flood risks. Weather forecasts predict that the Tulsa area and surrounding regions could see 2 to 3 inches of rainfall beginning late Sunday and lasting into early next week, with the heaviest rain expected on Monday. Local authorities urge residents to stay alert to changing conditions, especially if traveling on key highways like I-35 and Route 66, where flash flooding could become a concern.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, rain will start moving into the area Sunday night, with thunderstorms likely early Monday. By midday Monday, heavy rain is expected to develop, raising the risk of flash floods in low-lying areas, including portions of Tulsa, Bartlesville, and Muskogee. Gusty winds up to 40 mph may accompany the storm, potentially impacting visibility and creating hazardous driving conditions.

The weekend will start mild, with temperatures reaching 68 degrees on Saturday under mostly clear skies. Clouds will increase by Saturday night, and there is a 30% chance of showers by Sunday afternoon. Showers will intensify Sunday night into Monday, with a 90% chance of thunderstorms and rainfall peaking at 2 to 3 inches in northeast Oklahoma. Monday night will see rain tapering off, making way for clearer skies by Tuesday.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local weather updates and prepare for wet and windy conditions, particularly on Monday. If travel is necessary, officials advise using caution and avoiding flooded roads. Clear skies are expected to return by midweek, offering a reprieve from the stormy start to the week.
