Eastern Iowa – A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. this morning, impacting drivers across eastern Iowa, northeast Missouri, and west-central Illinois. Reduced visibility, in some places under a quarter-mile, could create hazardous travel conditions on routes through the Quad Cities and beyond. Drivers are urged to use low-beam headlights and reduce speed in these areas for safety.
According to the National Weather Service, fog is particularly dense along major roadways like Interstate 80 and Highway 61, affecting the morning commute. Motorists should exercise caution as visibility may suddenly change along these routes. The fog is expected to gradually lift around mid-morning as skies begin to clear.
After the fog clears, Friday will see mostly sunny skies with a high of 54 degrees in the Quad Cities area. Tonight, clouds will increase, bringing a low of around 39 degrees. Looking ahead, Saturday will offer partly sunny skies with a high near 56, although a slight chance of showers is forecast for Saturday night, with gusty winds up to 20 mph.
Sunday’s weather is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high near 60, while rain chances will rise substantially on Monday, with an 80% chance of precipitation in the form of showers throughout the day. Monday night could bring even heavier rain with a low around 51. Temperatures are forecast to warm up slightly by Tuesday, reaching a high of 60 with partly sunny skies.
Residents and commuters should plan for fog-related delays this morning and be prepared for possible rainfall early next week. This mix of fog, clear skies, and potential rain may impact travel, so keeping an eye on updated forecasts is recommended.
