Tulsa, OK – Residents in northeast Oklahoma, including Tulsa and the surrounding metro area, are bracing for extreme weather conditions this week. A heat advisory is in effect today from noon to 9 p.m., with the National Weather Service warning of heat index values ranging from 105 to 109 degrees. This intense heat wave is expected to create dangerous conditions, and residents are urged to take necessary precautions, including staying hydrated and avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun.

In addition to the heat advisory, an ozone alert is in effect for Tulsa and the surrounding metro area, covering parts of Osage, Tulsa, Rogers, Creek, and Wagoner counties. This alert advises residents to reduce emissions by limiting activities such as refueling vehicles, mowing lawns, and running errands during the hottest parts of the day.

The forecast for the rest of the week remains challenging, with temperatures expected to hover around 100 degrees through Thursday. A slight relief is anticipated by Friday, with temperatures dipping to 90 degrees, and further cooling over the weekend, where highs are expected to be in the mid-80s. However, a 50% chance of thunderstorms on Sunday could bring some respite from the heat.
