Tulsa, OK – Oklahoma residents should prepare for a week of intense weather conditions, with thunderstorms and dangerous heat expected to impact the region. Showers and thunderstorms will continue across far eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas through mid-morning, gradually decreasing and ending by late morning. However, hot and humid conditions will redevelop this afternoon across portions of southeast Oklahoma.
According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, some relief from the heat is expected for northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Despite this, several days of temperatures near or slightly below normal are anticipated through midweek before the heat returns later in the week, potentially affecting the weekend.
A heat advisory has been issued for areas including McAlester, Atoka, and Hugo, where heat index values are forecasted to reach between 105 and 110 degrees on Monday. Residents are advised to take precautions, including staying hydrated and spending time in air-conditioned environments.
Isolated strong storms are also possible, particularly in far eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas, with storm movements expected to head south at 30 mph. Residents should stay updated on local weather reports and prepare for rapidly changing conditions.
