Tulsa, OK – A dangerous blast of Arctic air will bring extreme cold and wintry conditions to Oklahoma starting Tuesday, with wind chills as low as -15°F. The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Watch from Tuesday evening through Thursday morning, warning of hypothermia and frostbite risks if precautions aren’t taken.

According to the National Weather Service, a wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow will move into the Tulsa area Tuesday morning. Icy conditions are expected on roads, including I-44 and Highway 169, making travel hazardous. Tuesday night will see temperatures drop to near 0°F, with dangerous wind chills ranging from -8°F to -15°F.

Wednesday will remain frigid, with highs barely reaching 14°F despite some sunshine. By Wednesday night, temperatures will plummet to 0°F again, prompting officials to urge residents to insulate pipes, check on elderly neighbors, and ensure pets have warm shelter.

Cold temperatures will persist through Friday, though conditions should gradually improve. Stay updated with the latest forecasts and prepare for extreme cold by dressing in layers and limiting outdoor exposure.
