Wilmington, OH – A swath of snow is expected to impact central Ohio beginning late Thursday night and continuing into early Friday. Commuters along the I-70 corridor should prepare for slick and potentially hazardous road conditions Friday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, snowfall is forecast to begin after midnight, with up to 1–2 inches accumulating by the morning commute. Bitterly cold temperatures and strong winds will accompany the snow, creating icy patches on untreated roads. Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time and exercise caution.
Friday will see temperatures falling to 23°F by evening, with a high near 31°F earlier in the day. Gusty winds could make conditions feel colder, while roads may remain icy, especially in shaded areas.
Looking ahead, the weather pattern remains active. A significant winter storm is projected to arrive Sunday into Monday, bringing higher snow totals and mixed precipitation. This could lead to further travel disruptions and impact school or work commutes to start the new week.
The weekend offers a brief respite, with partly sunny skies on Saturday and highs near 25°F. Overnight lows, however, will drop into the teens, keeping roadways frozen.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated on evolving forecasts and prepare for worsening conditions early next week. For live updates and winter safety tips, visit the National Weather Service website or local news outlets.
