Indianapolis, IN – Central Indiana residents are urged to prepare for light snowfall tonight as a weak clipper system moves through the region. Up to 2 inches of snow is forecast, primarily affecting areas north of I-70, including Kokomo and Anderson. Roads along I-65 may become slick overnight, creating hazardous travel conditions into Friday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, snowfall is expected to begin around 8 p.m. and continue through early Friday morning, tapering off by 4 a.m. Untreated surfaces may become icy, particularly in areas expecting higher accumulation. Residents traveling during these hours should reduce speeds and allow extra time to reach their destinations.
Friday will see mostly sunny skies, but temperatures will plummet throughout the day, with wind chills nearing zero by evening. Gusts up to 23 mph will accompany the cold, making outdoor activities hazardous without proper winter clothing.
Looking ahead, Saturday will bring clearer skies with highs near 25°F, followed by another round of snow on Sunday and Monday. Subzero wind chills and widespread accumulations are expected, potentially impacting Monday morning commutes.
Officials recommend monitoring local weather updates and avoiding non-essential travel during peak snowfall hours tonight. Snow shovels and de-icing supplies are advised for those in affected areas.
