Cleveland, OH – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Lorain, Medina, and Mahoning counties until 4 a.m. Friday, with significant impacts expected from lake effect snow and strong winds.
The National Weather Service reports that additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are likely, particularly in eastern Lorain, northeastern Medina, and northern Mahoning counties. Gusty winds reaching 55 mph near the lakeshore and 45 mph inland may result in blowing snow and reduced visibility, complicating travel conditions.
According to the advisory, these conditions are expected to impact morning and evening commutes, creating hazardous driving conditions, particularly on bridges and overpasses. Visibility may drop below 1/4 mile in some areas, and slick roads are anticipated. Drivers are urged to slow down and exercise caution while traveling.
The Ohio Department of Transportation advises delaying unnecessary travel and checking roadway conditions at ohgo.com. Motorists should remain prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions, including heavy snow bands and strong winds that can cause power outages due to fallen tree branches.
This advisory continues through tonight, with conditions improving by early Friday morning.
