Portland, ME – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of Maine and New Hampshire, with snow and potential snow squalls creating hazardous travel conditions Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected to add to the storm’s total of 4 to 9 inches across the region. The advisory, which remains in effect until noon EST, highlights the risk of snow squalls capable of rapidly reducing visibility to less than half a mile.

The affected areas include portions of south-central, west-central, and western Maine, as well as central, northern, and southern New Hampshire. Snow squalls, combined with gusty winds, may lead to slippery roads and sudden hazardous conditions for drivers.

Travelers are urged to exercise caution on roads and allow for extra travel time. Additionally, outdoor surfaces such as stairs, sidewalks, and driveways may become icy and pose a risk of injury.
