Wilmington, OH – A winter storm is bringing hazardous conditions to parts of Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky through midnight Monday. Residents in Miami County and surrounding areas should prepare for slick roads, snow accumulations up to 4 inches, and freezing rain. Authorities urge caution for those traveling overnight into Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect for southeast Indiana, northern Kentucky, and central and southwest Ohio. The storm is expected to bring a mix of freezing rain and snow, creating treacherous driving conditions. Visibility may be limited during peak snowfall, with roads like I-70 and I-75 potentially impacted by ice.
The forecast for Monday night calls for additional snow accumulation between 1 and 3 inches, with strong northeast winds of up to 25 mph. Blustery conditions will continue into Tuesday morning before the storm tapers off. Temperatures will plunge to a low of 9 degrees Tuesday night, making untreated surfaces prone to freezing.
Looking ahead, Tuesday will bring clearer skies, with highs near 25 degrees. However, wind chill values could dip below zero overnight. Wednesday may see a slight chance of snow flurries before conditions improve by Thursday.
Residents should stock up on essentials, avoid unnecessary travel, and monitor local updates for road conditions. For detailed road alerts, visit 511in.org for Indiana or ohgo.com for Ohio.
