Cleveland, Ohio – Northeast Ohio is in for a pleasant summer day Monday with abundant sunshine, light winds and warm afternoon temperatures, offering a brief window of comfortable weather before hotter conditions build later this week.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, sunny skies will dominate the forecast Monday with north to northeast winds of 3 to 8 mph. Afternoon highs are expected to reach the mid to upper 80s across much of northern Ohio, while lakeshore communities remain slightly cooler thanks to a light breeze off Lake Erie.
Temperatures will climb to around 89 degrees in Toledo, 88 in Findlay and Youngstown, 87 in Akron, Canton and Mount Vernon, 86 in Cleveland, Norwalk and Wooster, and the lower 80s near Erie, Pennsylvania. The combination of low wind speeds and dry conditions should make for favorable outdoor conditions across parks, ballfields and construction sites.
Lake Erie will also provide excellent conditions for recreational boating, with waves of 1 foot or less and light winds of 10 knots or less, creating relatively calm waters for much of the day.
Residents planning outdoor activities should continue practicing basic heat safety by staying hydrated and using sunscreen during the afternoon, especially as temperatures climb toward the upper 80s.
The quiet weather pattern will not last long. Forecasts indicate temperatures and humidity will increase across the region during the middle of the week, bringing hotter conditions to northern Ohio after Monday’s comfortable start to the workweek.
