Cleveland, OH – Northeast Ohio residents should brace for dangerous wind chills and snow showers tonight, creating hazardous conditions along major roadways, including I-90 and I-480. Temperatures are expected to drop into the single digits, with sub-zero wind chills posing a significant risk to outdoor activity.
According to the National Weather Service, overnight lows will plummet to 9°F in Cleveland, with wind chills making it feel as cold as -5°F. Snow showers will persist through the evening, with an expected accumulation of 1 to 2 inches across the region, and higher amounts possible in the snowbelt. Drivers should exercise caution during their evening commutes, as visibility may be reduced.
Thursday morning will bring continued frigid conditions, with highs barely reaching 24°F. Snow showers could add another inch of accumulation. Winds out of the west at 14 mph will maintain the bitter wind chills, keeping the real-feel temperatures near zero throughout the day.
Looking ahead, a brief respite from snow is expected on Friday, with partly sunny skies and a high of 36°F. However, the weekend brings another round of wintry weather, with rain and snow showers likely on Saturday and Sunday.
Residents are urged to dress warmly, limit time outdoors, and monitor updates for potential weather advisories. Emergency preparedness is essential during extreme cold, so check on neighbors and ensure pets are sheltered.
