Cleveland, OH – A large portion of Ohio is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10 p.m. Sunday, with potential for damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes as a line of storms pushes east from Indiana.
According to the National Weather Service Cleveland and the Storm Prediction Center, the watch affects 25 counties across northwest and north central Ohio, including Toledo, Lima, Sandusky, and Mansfield. Thunderstorm Watch #75 was issued at 5:10 p.m. EDT.
Counties included in the alert are Allen, Auglaize, Darke, Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Hancock, Hardin, Henry, Logan, Lucas, Mercer, Ottawa, Paulding, Putnam, Sandusky, Seneca, Shelby, Van Wert, Williams, Wood, and Wyandot.
Forecasters warn of wind gusts reaching up to 60 mph, which could down power lines or trees. A few brief tornadoes are also possible as the storms intensify heading into the evening. The main threat window is expected between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, charge devices, and monitor local alerts via NOAA Weather Radio or mobile emergency apps. Drivers should use caution on roads, especially in low-visibility conditions caused by heavy rainfall.
