Lafayette, IN – Two weather-related rollover crashes caused major traffic delays along I-65 southbound near Lafayette on Sunday, prompting state police to urge drivers to slow down and use extra caution.
According to the Indiana State Police-Lafayette District, troopers responded to the incidents at the 188- and 192-mile markers on I-65 southbound. The crashes, attributed to hazardous weather conditions, resulted in only minor injuries. Authorities did not specify an exact time of clearance but advised that delays were expected throughout Sunday evening.
Emergency responders worked to manage the crash sites while warning motorists of continued slick road conditions in the area. Traffic cameras showed a jackknifed semi-truck blocking multiple lanes near the crash sites as of 4:30 p.m.
Drivers traveling through Tippecanoe County and surrounding areas are advised to reduce speed, increase following distance, and allow additional travel time. No official detours were announced, but delays spanned several miles.
State police continue to monitor road conditions as rain and wind impact travel across central Indiana. Motorists can check INDOT traffic updates for real-time closures and use alternate routes when possible. This stretch of I-65 has seen multiple weather-related crashes in past years during spring storms.
