Columbus, Ohio – Heavy rain, dangerous winds, and heat index values near 100°F are converging on Central Ohio this Saturday, July 26th, creating a triple threat for residents across the Columbus metro.

According to the National Weather Service, strong to severe thunderstorms will likely develop Saturday afternoon into the evening, especially between 2 and 8 p.m. The storms may bring wind gusts up to 60 mph and rainfall amounts exceeding one inch, leading to localized flash flooding. A flash flood risk exists in low-lying areas and along urban corridors, especially near major roadways like I-70 and I-71.

Temperatures will climb to a high near 91°F on Saturday with oppressive humidity, sending heat index values soaring above 98°F. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor activity during peak heat, stay hydrated, and charge devices ahead of possible power outages from storms.

Storm chances continue into Saturday night, with an 80% chance of thunderstorms lasting through early Sunday. While Sunday begins calmer, another round of storms is expected Sunday afternoon. The risk of strong winds and localized flooding continues into Monday as the pattern persists.
