Wilmington, OH – Scattered snow showers and dropping temperatures overnight could make driving hazardous across much of central and southern Ohio.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington issued a special weather statement early Saturday morning warning of slick spots on untreated surfaces. Temperatures are expected to fall to the lower 20s, increasing the risk of ice forming on bridges, overpasses, and roadways.

According to the advisory, snow showers are expected to continue during the night before tapering off. Elevated surfaces are particularly vulnerable to freezing. Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling and to leave extra stopping distance on potentially icy roads.

The impacted areas include major cities such as Columbus, Dayton, and Wilmington, as well as surrounding counties. The statement emphasized the importance of driving at reduced speeds and avoiding sudden movements while steering or braking.

Temperatures are expected to rise slightly during the day Saturday, with highs near 30°F. However, additional wintry weather could complicate travel early next week.

Stay tuned for updates and exercise caution while traveling. Be sure to check local weather reports before heading out.
