Wilmington, OH – Residents across the Ohio Valley are experiencing a wet and breezy start to the week as heavy rain sweeps through the region Monday. Forecasters warn of wind gusts up to 35 mph and reduced road visibility during peak afternoon hours. By late this week, colder temperatures could bring the first signs of snow.

The National Weather Service (NWS) reports widespread showers with 100% rain chances today, tapering off late Monday night. Winds will remain strong, sustained at 15-20 mph, with gusts peaking near 35 mph, especially in exposed areas and open roadways. Drivers should proceed with caution as ponding on roads and slick conditions are likely.

Temperatures will drop to the mid-30s overnight as skies begin to clear. By Tuesday, residents can expect sunny and cooler weather, with a high near 48 degrees and winds calming to 6-10 mph. This brief dry spell will be welcome before another system arrives midweek.

Rain chances increase again Tuesday night into Wednesday, with an 80% likelihood of showers as temperatures hover in the mid-40s. However, by Thursday night into Friday, a colder air mass will settle across the Ohio Valley, bringing a chance for light snow. Early projections indicate the potential for flurries or minor accumulations as daytime highs drop to the upper 30s and overnight lows reach the mid-20s.

Residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts closely as weather patterns develop later in the week. Plan for rain early, prepare for cooler days ahead, and be alert for any snow impacts by Friday.
