Wilmington, Ohio – Smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to blanket much of Ohio, dimming skies and keeping air quality levels in check even as temperatures trend slightly warmer across the state Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, highs will reach the upper 60s to low 70s across southwest and central Ohio by late afternoon, about 2 to 4 degrees warmer than Saturday. Overnight lows are expected to fall into the mid-to-upper 40s across cities like Dayton, Chillicothe, and Wilmington.
The hazy conditions are expected to persist through the day, especially in western and southern counties, where visibility may dip slightly due to smoke particulates. Though not expected to reach hazardous levels, those with respiratory concerns are encouraged to limit prolonged outdoor activity.
Interstate corridors including I-70, I-71, and I-75 may experience light sun glare through the haze, especially near dusk. Outdoor events should see no rain interference, but air quality remains a moderate concern.
The National Weather Service will continue monitoring smoke concentrations and temperature trends. Updates are expected by Monday morning as wind patterns may shift conditions statewide.
