Blacksburg, VA – Temperatures across southwest Virginia will run cooler than average this Sunday as the region eases into June under mostly dry skies. Cities like Roanoke and Lynchburg are expected to top out in the mid-to-upper 70s, while Bluefield remains cooler at 67°F.

According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, a few showers and thunderstorms may develop south of the Virginia-North Carolina border by Sunday afternoon, especially in areas near Boone, NC, where there’s a 40% chance of storms. Danville faces only a minimal 20% rain chance, while most Virginia localities—including Blacksburg and Lynchburg—should stay dry with partly sunny skies.

Travelers and outdoor planners across the region can expect calm conditions, though cooler-than-normal temps may require an extra layer early in the day. No major disruptions are expected on interstates or in metro areas.

Rain chances increase further south into North Carolina, but Virginia residents should continue to monitor updates in case storms creep northward. The next forecast update will be issued later Sunday evening.
