Wilmington, Ohio – A winter storm could bring accumulating snow and difficult travel conditions across parts of the Ohio Valley beginning Saturday morning, with impacts likely lasting through late Sunday night. Roads may become snow-covered and slick, making weekend travel challenging across multiple states.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a Winter Storm Watch is in effect for portions of southeast Indiana, northern and northeast Kentucky, and south-central and southwest Ohio. Snow accumulations between 4 and 6 inches are possible, enough to significantly affect travel on interstates and secondary roads.
In Ohio, impacts are expected across Adams, Brown, Clermont, Highland, Pike, Ross, and Scioto counties, including Chillicothe, Portsmouth, Hillsboro, and surrounding communities. Northern Kentucky locations such as Covington, Newport, Florence, Maysville, and Williamstown are also included, along with southeast Indiana communities near Vevay and Rising Sun. Major routes including I-71, I-75, U.S. 52, and U.S. 23 could become hazardous as snowfall intensifies.
Officials urge residents to consider altering travel plans and to prepare vehicles with winter emergency supplies if travel cannot be avoided. Snow-covered roads, reduced visibility, and untreated surfaces could lead to extended delays.
The Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Saturday morning through late Sunday night, and additional advisories or warnings may be issued as confidence increases in snowfall totals and timing.
