Columbus, Ohio – Showers and thunderstorms are set to soak the Ohio Valley through early Tuesday, with rivers rising and minor flooding possible across parts of Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky.
According to the National Weather Service Ohio River Forecast Center, between 0.25 and 1.5 inches of rain is expected through 8 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, particularly across northern Ohio and surrounding regions. The rainfall could push some rivers to Action Stage, with isolated reports of minor flooding.
The heaviest rainfall is expected near Columbus, Cleveland, and northern West Virginia, where saturated ground may lead to standing water on roads and reduced visibility during commutes. Several tributaries of the Ohio River, including stretches near Wheeling and Huntington, may approach minor flood stage.
Residents are advised to monitor local alerts, avoid driving through flooded roadways, and secure outdoor items. Power outages are not expected to be widespread, but localized disruptions are possible with embedded thunderstorms.
Rain chances will taper by Tuesday afternoon, though another round of storms is possible later in the week. Additional alerts may be issued as river levels respond to the ongoing precipitation.
