Wilmington, Ohio – Thunderstorms will fire up across the Ohio Valley Monday afternoon, with Wilmington and surrounding areas bracing for downpours and flash flooding.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, widespread showers and storms are expected to begin after 11 a.m. Monday, continuing into the evening. A 90% chance of rain and locally heavy rainfall could lead to poor drainage and standing water in parts of Clinton County. Drivers along US-68, State Route 73, and I-71 should expect reduced visibility and slick pavement during the afternoon commute.

Temperatures will peak near 71°F, with southwest winds between 7 and 11 mph. Rain could fall heavily in short bursts, particularly in thunderstorms. Overnight into Tuesday, storms may continue through 2 a.m., with new rainfall totals ranging from a tenth to a quarter inch — possibly higher where storms stall.

Looking Ahead – Five-Day Outlook for Wilmington (June 9–13):

  • Tuesday (June 10): Mostly sunny, high near 75°F. Clear, calm evening with a low around 58°F.
  • Wednesday (June 11): Sunny and warmer, reaching 81°F. Clear skies continue overnight, low near 61°F.
  • Thursday (June 12): Dry and hot, high of 84°F. Partly cloudy at night.
  • Friday (June 13): Thunderstorms return late. High of 84°F, 40% chance of rain by evening.

Residents are urged to stay weather-aware and avoid flooded roads. Monday’s storms kick off an active summer pattern, with additional rain chances building into the weekend.
