Wilmington, Ohio – Hot, stormy weather will dominate southern Ohio this week as rounds of thunderstorms threaten flash flooding and dampen summer plans in Wilmington and surrounding areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, showers and thunderstorms will become likely Monday afternoon, with additional rain and storms expected nearly every day through Friday. The heaviest activity is expected between Wednesday and Friday, when repeated downpours could trigger isolated flash flooding — especially along low-lying roads and urban streets including stretches of I-71 and US-68.

Residents across Clinton, Fayette, Greene, and Warren counties should remain alert for rapidly changing weather. Storms could dump locally heavy rain in short bursts, raising concerns for drivers and outdoor event organizers alike. If your neighborhood is prone to pooling water, avoid low spots and check drains now.

Monday’s high will reach 84°F, with storms possible between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., followed by a second round during the evening. While Tuesday brings only a slight chance of rain, Wednesday through Friday show a strong chance (60–70%) of widespread showers and thunderstorms.

⚠️ Safety Tip: Prepare now by clearing debris near storm drains, checking emergency kits, and charging electronics in case of outages.
