The forecast predicts severe weather conditions will continue throughout the evening, potentially impacting over 9.5 million people, 2,778 schools, and 227 hospitals.
Residents are advised to stay indoors and seek shelter in a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of their homes. The NWS recommends keeping a battery-powered weather radio on hand for updates and warnings. Flash flooding is also a concern due to the anticipated heavy rainfall.
