Cleveland, Ohio – After a stretch of mild spring weather, showers will return to Northeast and Northern Ohio tonight, with storm chances rising sharply into Friday as a cold front approaches.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, rain probabilities climb from 15–30% late Thursday to as high as 80–90% in cities like Sandusky, Ravenna, and Findlay by Friday afternoon. The system will deliver intermittent showers through the day, with possible thunderstorms developing by late afternoon and evening.
Cleveland, Akron, and Youngstown could see rain chances peak near 60% Friday afternoon. Travel may be impacted on I-90 and U.S. Route 20, especially during the evening commute. Scattered storms are expected to bring locally heavy downpours, reduced visibility, and brief wind gusts.
Residents are encouraged to monitor conditions, avoid travel during stronger cells, and secure outdoor items ahead of the front’s arrival. While not a widespread severe event, the “hit-or-miss” nature of storms may catch some off-guard.
The cold front is expected to move through early Friday night, with drier and cooler air arriving Saturday. Additional updates are likely as storm timing becomes more precise.
