Cleveland, OH – Residents across Northeast Ohio are bracing for significant snowfall and hazardous travel as a Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect through 7 p.m. Saturday. Total accumulations of 5 to 10 inches are expected in the most persistent snow bands, particularly in Cuyahoga, Portage, and Summit counties.

According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest snowfall will begin Friday morning, with conditions worsening through Saturday afternoon. Winds of up to 31 mph could cause blowing snow and drastically reduce visibility, particularly along Interstate 77 and Route 8. Officials urge drivers to exercise extreme caution or avoid travel altogether if possible.

Light to moderate snow is forecast to redevelop across northeastern Cuyahoga County late Friday night, with peak snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour expected during early Saturday. The Ohio Department of Transportation advises motorists to carry an emergency kit, including a flashlight, water, and food, due to potential delays and dangerous conditions.

Saturday will bring additional snowfall before tapering off in the afternoon. Highs will reach 28°F with blustery winds. Sunday and Monday remain cold with lingering snow showers and highs in the low 30s.

Residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates and check road conditions before heading out. Stay prepared for rapidly changing weather and difficult driving conditions throughout the weekend.
