Dayton, Ohio – Residents in Dayton woke up sweating Monday morning as the city tied its all-time warmest low temperature on record, with Sunday night’s overnight low holding steady at 75 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, the minimum temperature recorded on July 6, 2025, matched historic warm lows previously set in 1900, 1921, and 1993. The agency issued a Record Event Report early Monday confirming the milestone.
Unusually high nighttime temperatures can pose serious health risks, especially for vulnerable populations without access to air conditioning. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat, and check on neighbors—especially the elderly.
The warm overnight low follows a weekend of sweltering conditions across the Miami Valley and much of southwest Ohio, with several cities experiencing above-average highs and minimal overnight relief.
Monday’s heat is expected to linger, and more record challenges are possible later this week. Additional advisories could be issued if nighttime temperatures remain elevated.
