Cincinnati, Ohio – Unhealthy air quality is set to impact millions across Greater Cincinnati and the surrounding tri-state region from midnight tonight through Wednesday night, with the Southwest Ohio Air Quality Agency warning residents about potentially dangerous ozone levels.
According to the Southwest Ohio Air Quality Agency, an Air Quality Advisory will be in effect from 12 a.m. Wednesday through midnight, targeting Butler, Clermont, Hamilton, and Warren counties in Ohio, as well as Boone, Campbell, and Kenton counties in Kentucky, and Dearborn County in Indiana. The alert cautions that ozone concentrations may reach levels hazardous to sensitive groups—including children, seniors, and those with respiratory conditions.
Cities including Florence, Covington, Newport, Lawrenceburg, Hamilton, and Downtown Cincinnati are all under the advisory. Residents are urged to reduce ozone pollution by carpooling, taking public transit, and postponing refueling or lawn care until after 8 p.m. Avoiding vehicle idling and limiting gas-powered equipment during peak hours can further help lower pollution.
Drivers, commuters, and outdoor workers should take extra care, especially during the afternoon when ozone peaks. Limiting prolonged outdoor activity is recommended for anyone with asthma or breathing difficulties.
The advisory will remain in effect until midnight Wednesday, with possible extensions if air quality does not improve. Updates and resources are available at Southwest Ohio Air Quality Agency.
